Meet Our Staff

Dr. Kendra Creighton, DVM

Owner and Surgeon at MMVSRC

Dr. Kendra Creighton graduated with honors from the University of Michigan where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from Michigan State University. While in private practice, she quickly developed an intense passion for surgery and appreciation for the ability to dramatically improve her patients' quality of life.

Dr. Creighton was constantly seeking surgical continuing education courses in order to further advance her skills. Her passion and talent for surgery led co-workers and rescue organizations to refer their more challenging and specialized surgical cases to her. Her desire to focus exclusively on orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, combined with her frustration for the lack of affordable surgical options, led her to join the MMVSRC team in 2015.

In 2018, Dr. Creighton purchased the practice from Dr. Hook upon his retirement. "My favorite part of my job is improving the quality of not only our patients' lives, but of their owners' lives as well," Dr. Creighton says. "I feel incredibly passionate about making surgical excellence financially feasible for our clients. It is also very important to me that each of our clients really understand how much we care about them and their pet's individual needs."

Stacey Elges

Licensed Veterinary Technician

Stacey is the smiling face that will be there to greet you when you walk in our door. She is a Licensed Veterinary Technician who graduated from Macomb Community College in 2002. She worked in small animal general practice for 15 years before joining the team at MMVSRC in 2017.

When Stacey isn't helping to heal pets at MMVSRC, she is cheering her sons, Kevin and Kyle, on to victory at their various sporting events. Her home is completed by her husband, Jon, her mother, Sandy, and her pets, Murray and Finney. In her free time, Stacey enjoys cooking, swimming, and photography.

"My favorite part about my job is helping to reduce our patients' pain," Stacey explains. "I love seeing what a huge difference surgery can make in the quality of their lives. I also enjoy being able to help people who might not be able to have these surgeries performed otherwise."

Dr. Craig Hook, DVM

Founder and Surgeon at MMVSRC

Dr. Craig Hook DVM graduated with honors from Michigan State University in 1978 earning his degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Hook owned and operated Northside Animal Hospital, as a sole practitioner, for 29 years between 1979 and 2008. He received nearly consecutive awards for Best Veterinary Clinic and Best Veterinarian between 1998 and 2007, as voted by Argus-Press readers.

Dr. Hook sold Northside Animal Hospital to Dr. Nicholas Skarich in March 2008 and opened Mid Michigan Veterinary Surgical Referral Center with his wife, Beth, in April 2008 to focus on orthopedics and other more specialized surgical procedures. Dr. Hook understood the escalating cost of veterinary care and made it his goal to offer difficult surgical procedures at an affordable price.

In 2018, Dr. Hook sold MMVSRC to his partner, Dr. Creighton, so that he could sail off into the sunset of retirement. When he's not out on the lake fishing or hitting the links with his wife, Beth, he can be found at MMVSRC, continuing to offer medical and surgical excellence to his patients and their owners.
